Fittings (Couplings, clamps, caps, storz)

Storz is not a product but a connector type: a symmetrical coupling that locks with a half-turn, without tools, a solution according to the DIN standard, used in most European countries. That is why the hose coupling, the stub coupling, the adapter and the cap coupling are all Storz couplings, just with different functions.

When choosing, only one thing really matters: what size and what connection your existing system has. If you are unsure, send us a photo, and we will tell you which one you need.

What are you looking for?

Which subcategory has what?

Hose ends, hose couplings – couplings fitted to the end of the hose. They can be ordered on their own, without a hose, so if your old coupling is damaged or lost, you don't need to buy a new hose. To choose the right one, you need to know the diameter of the hose.

Reducer couplings, Storz couplings – the transition between a threaded connection and the Storz system: thread on one side (1", 2", 2½"), Storz coupling on the other. Special-size reducer couplings also exist, allowing a size change with a single component: cheaper and more practical than stacking two fittings.

Adapter couplings, Storz adapters – for connecting two different Storz sizes, for example from B-75 to C-52.

Cap couplings, Storz blind caps – for closing off an open connection.

Valve-stem and ball-valve hydrants, shut-off valves – the water take-off points of wall hydrant cabinets and the network shut-off valves.

Nozzles – for shaping the water jet: available as shut-off, adjustable and straight versions.

Collectors and dividers – from one line to several, or from several lines to one.

Filter baskets and suction strainers – fitted on the suction side to keep contamination out of the pump.

Standpipes for underground hydrants – pipes with an outlet, placed on top of an underground hydrant.

Keys, tools – hydrant keys, coupling keys, manhole-cover lifters.

Accessories, seals, threaded ends – the wear parts. The sealing ring of Storz couplings hardens and leaks over time: often just replacing the ring is enough.

Sizes

For hoses, the most common sizes are D-25, C-52 and B-75. For large-diameter suction hoses, fire trucks and industrial water take-off points, the A-100, A-102 and A-110 sizes occur. There are small differences between the A-sizes, so it is especially important to know exactly what your existing system uses.

For repairing a wall hydrant

If you need a part for your existing hydrant cabinet, this is the right place: valve-stem hydrants, nozzles, couplings, caps and seals are all in this category. Replacement hoses can be found in the Hoses and water pumping category, and complete cabinets in Hydrant systems and cabinets.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Storz coupling?

It is not a specific product but a connector type, a solution according to the DIN standard. It is a symmetrical quick coupling that closes with a half-turn, operable without tools, even while wearing gloves. Hose couplings, reducer couplings, adapters and cap couplings can all be Storz couplings.

Can a hose coupling be bought separately, without a hose?

Yes. To choose the right one, you need to know the diameter of the hose.

I need to connect two different sizes, what should I buy?

An adapter, or a single-piece, special-size reducer coupling. The latter is usually cheaper, means fewer connection points, and can be handled more quickly.

The coupling is leaking, does the whole unit need to be replaced?

In most cases, no. If the sealing ring has hardened, cracked or is missing, replacing it solves the problem.

What is the difference between a suction strainer and a filter basket?

Both are fitted on the suction side and protect the pump from contamination. The suction strainer typically also features a check valve, so water does not flow back after the pump stops.
